[JE + SM?] DBSK to Guest in boyband SMAPxSMAP & Kinki Kids Show - Is this the end of the boyband cold war?

The top pop groups of Korea and Japan - DBSK (or TVXQ) and SMAP - have met on a Japanese program.

DBSK on Jan. 29 joined the recording of the popular show "SMAP×SMAP" on Fuji TV, hosted by SMAP. In a friendly atmosphere, the two groups talked and sang together. The program airs next month.

Previously, top Korean stars such as Jang Dong-gun, Song Seung-heon, Lee Young-ae, Choi Ji-woo, Ryo Si-won, kwon Sang-woo and Sin Hye-seong appeared in the program's "Bistro SMAP" segment. Sin notably sang a live duet with SMAP member Kusanagi Tsuyoshi.

The two top groups had already met Dec. 31 during an NHK year-end pop festival, the most prestigious of its kind in Japan. The two groups briefly met during rehearsals and DBSK later went to SMAP's room for a formal greeting.

SMAP member Takuya Kimura talked about that first encounter on a radio show last month. He laughingly said, "The room was small for ten healthy men. It was suffocating. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's supposed Korean skills didn't really come out".

The Korean group's appearance on "SMAP×SMAP" is as significant as their first meeting last month.

Japan's Johnny's Entertainment manages not only SMAP but many other top notch idol groups including KinKi Kids. It maintains their popularity by having group members host shows on all private broadcasts.

DBSK is also scheduled to appear soon on a Fuji TV show hosted by the KinKi Kids (Domoto Koichi, Domoto Tsuyoshi). The "honeymoon affair" between DBSK and Johnny's is expected to continue for quite some time.

On January 29 in Japan, THSK recorded 'SUMA SUMA'(SMAPXSMAP) on Fuji TV with SMAP members, THSK appeared on talk show and with a friendly atmosphere they sang a song together. This sneak peek will be broadcasted next month.

Until now, 'SUMA SUMA', already had a Korean star as their guests such as Jang Dong-gun, Song Seung Heon, Lee Young-ae, Choi Ji Woo, ryusiwon, Kwon Sang-Woo, Shin Hye Sung on SMAP BISTRO corner, and Shin Hye Sung has a duet with Kusanagi Tsuyoshi singing "sky~ eternal love" live.

THSK and SMAP met for the first time on December 31 at the most prestigious show "NHK 59th KOUHAKU Utagassen". On the rehearsal the day before the show, THSK had a light greetings with SMAP at SMAP's waiting room.

Takuya Kimura on a radio show explainned about this, "10 people were filling that small room made a frustating situation" then he described, "even Kusanagi's korean didnt help much." telling a disclosed episode that hapenned that time.

THSK signed a contract for their appereance on NHK's programme with SMAP.

SMAP, ARASHI, KATTUN, NEWS, Kinki Kids, known as Japanese Idol groups from a popular management, Johnny, who had many kind of popular shows.

After their appereance in SUMASUMA, THSK soon will be appeared with popular duo, Tsuyoshi Domoto and Koichi Domoto from Kinki Kids, "Domoto Brothers". THSK also schedulled to appear in other Johnny's shows with a friendly atmosphere in the future.

[Spoiler: This a SPECIAL episode, similar to the Korean "School Attack"/"School of Rock" show, however this program usually doesn't do this sort of thing. They did this surprise because the girls once revealed to TBS on camera that they wished to see the "cool" guys of Tohoshinki who are "awesome dancers" and dance with them. Well, they got their wish and some! Very touching episode and even more exciting and personal than School Attack.

If you didn't get the gist of what happened at the end of part 1, the girls are asked to learn the dance steps of Purple Line in a few hours and then perform in front of the ENTIRE school (on national television too!) with DBSK.]

The boys look stellar and very happy on this bright and early morning show, even with their super tight, strenuous, and tough schedule (the PD shows their overnight schedule 2:04 on the show before they came on set). Now here is an example we can ALL follow when we have to go back to DREADED classes and school/work >_< ... whoops, I mean, YEY for classes! :D

These guys are killer role models for me when I feel like calling in sick and running away from work.

They performed Doushite and Purple Line, their Oricon #1 hits.
Btw, both the MCs are people that DBSK has interacted with. The female MC is Mari Sekine from Music Station and the male is SMAP leader Nakai who runs a talk show DBSK and Koda Kumi were on together. I am glad to hear they both regard the boys so highly ^^

The performances have to be kept short because Kohaku is a competition between the male and female teams and multiple artists are invited to perform.

DBSK to Appear on HEYHEYHEY!

There will be an appeance on the popular Japanese show HeyHeyHey! The recording is on the 14th - not sure when the airing will occur. I can't wait to see them on the show again xD The PDs 'Down Town' are hilarious.

DBSK is Facing Another Dilemma - May not be attending the 3 big K-award shows

Will Dong Bang Shin Gi be able to participate in the year-end awards in Korea?

This year Dong Bang Shin Gi released their 4th album ‘MIROTIC’ in September with 500, 000 in album sales proving their influence as Korea’s top idol group however their participation in the year-end ceremonies will be affected due to activities in Japan.

On the 4th, Dong Bang Shin Gi’s label, SM Entertainment told Newsen that the group “will have to leave to participate in a Japanese broadcast on the 30th to the 31st” and that they’re “currently discussing a plan for activities in Korea.”

Like every year, Korea’s top 3 year end music festivals are planned to be held 29th for SBS, 30th for KBS and MBC on the 31st. The celebrations held on the 30th and 31st are proving to be a difficult situation.

The reason that attendance at the year-end festivals is proving to be difficult is because Japan is calling the boys back. Dong Bang Shin Gi is among the list of attendees at the biggest event in Japan’s music industry, the NHK Red & White Year-End Festival. The event will hold a significant meaning to the group since it’ll be their first time attending.

Dong Bang Shin Gi will also be attending the Japan Record Awards on the 30th as prize winners.

I am verrry excited to see DBSK FINALLY being covered on an American music show "Fuse Excellent Adventure". Yes, you heard it right, FUSE TV uncovers the DBSK craze/fandom on Asia Song Festival concert (which invited artists from Korea, Japan, China) and gets to personally interview the boys as well.

The show airs Tues. at 11:30 pm and re-airs at 2:30 am the same night. I am hearing that there are reruns to this show. If you have the FUSE channel, you should check out their website for timings. Slowly, its seems all the international fans are getting their wish to see DBSK on their own TVs lol

Ok, so does anyone remember the "boy band" days? Nsync, Backstreet Boys, New Kids On The Block, or any other group with three or more members, singing and busting out choreographed dance moves? Well, in the United States, the "boy band" era, for the most part, has faded away. But in Korea--it is as strong as ever! I couldn’t BELIEVE how HYSTERICAL people were for Korean Pop (a.k.a "K-Pop"). I spent a whole day surrounded by thousands of screaming teenage girls. I loved how excited they were to see their favorite K-Pop singers, but I think I lost most of my hearing by the end of the day. Lol. Just kiddin.

The thing that surprised me the most about some of the "adoring", "sweet", and "innocent" teenage girls was the things they SAID they would do to their pop star if they could get the chance! Lol. I was thinking "Girl! You are like, 15! How do YOU know what THAT is--or how to do that -- where the HECK is your mother!" Lol. I guess I underestimated the Korean youth.

While at the festival, I learned about all kinds of FAMOUS K-Pop bands like: Girls Generations, Shinee and a whole bunch more! But, the ONE band that I heard about every single second of the day was TVXQ, also known as: DONG BANG SHIN KI. They have a fan club of more than 800 thousand in Korea ALONE --that's not including the rest of the world!

When I told some K-Pop fans that I hung-out with TVXQ, I was immediately rushed and touched as though 'I' were them! I guess I didn't realize how FAMOUS they were at the time. Lol.

Well, if you're looking for a festival you can go to for great dancing, great singing, and lots of excitement...then I HIGHLY recommend the ASIA SONG FESTIVAL!

p.s. When I returned to the United States, I came across tons of blogs asking about a particular picture with TVXQ and myself (click on link for picture).

People were asking why TVXQ was looking so mad or confused. It was neither. During the time of this picture, I was talking to my producer regarding my position in reference to the camera. Since TVXQ didn't speak English, they were just waiting for the translator (not in frame) to tell them what we were talking about. :-)

I had a GREAT time hanging out with them. They are all COOL dudes! We were laughing and joking around with each other almost the whole time. I hope I answered some of the questions that were asked. If I missed any... hit me up on my blog, and we'll talk!

DBSK/Tohoshinki invited to Kohaku: Japan's Most-Watched Music Concert

In many interviews, the boys had mentioned that it was their dream to be invited to Kohaku, the biggest annual Japanese end-of-the-year music show, boardcasted on New Year's Eve by NKH on radio and TV. Lots of big entertainers are invited to this concert and split into teams. In the end, viewers can vote for the team they believe should win. Sounds pretty exicting!

According to Wikipedia:

Literally "Red and White Song Battle," the program divides the most popular music artists of the year into competing teams of red and white. The "red" team made up of all female artists , while the "white" team is all male. The honor of performing on Kōhaku is strictly by invitation, so only the most successful J-Pop artists and enka singers can perform. In addition to the actual music performances, the costumes, hair-styles, makeup, dancing, and lighting are also important. Even today, a performance on Kōhaku is said to be a big highlight in a singer's career because of the show's large reach.

Finally, it was revealed today that DBSK will be attending!

‘Dong Bang Shinki ’ Choikang Changmin, “He almost lost his source of income because of Xiah Junsu?!”

Dong Bang Shinki’s youngest member Choikang Changmin became the topic of conversation as he exposed that Xiah Junsu almost cut off his source of income.

DBSK, who made an magnificent comeback stage after a year and 7 months, appeared on KBS 2TV ‘Shin Dongyup and Shin Bongsun’s Champagene’ and talked skillfully.

During the ‘Shower Talk- It’s all because of you’ Choikang Changmin exposed that because of Xiah Junsu almost stole his source of income. What happened was that at their debut, Choikang Changmin held the cute image in the group, but Xiah Junsu came out with ‘Angel Xiah’ and took the cute image, resulting in Changmin not having any road to follow. Choikang Changmin revealed “Because of him, I just became the tall kid in Dong Bang Shinki”.

After that they revealed that “The members of Dong Bang Shinki had a big fight because we all had our own images but Xiah Junsu messed it up”.

Tohoshinki sings opening song for popular anime One Piece: "We Are"

Despite heavily promoting Mirotic (SPELL) in Korea, DBSK still has not forgotten their Japanese fan base.

The 5 member band took part in the remake of the opening theme "We Are" (the original song aired first season) for popular anime show One Piece, which kicks off its tenth season this month.

One Piece was recently voted as all-time #1 manga in an Oricon poll, beating the likes of other highly popular mangas such as Dragon Ball, Naruto and Death Note.

With over 140 million copies sold, One Piece is the third highest selling manga in the history of Weekly Shōnen Jump. It is considered their most acclaimed and all-time third-best-selling title in Japan.

Considering the reach of this anime and it being a staple for the Japanese, no one’s going to forget these boys for a long time to come.

Tohoshinki's remake will be called the "One Piece Animation 10th Anniversary Version".

[DRAMA] Hero Jaejoong accepts his role in drama "Postman of Heaven"/"Heaven's PostCard Service"

Jaejung hero acting challenge, "given a shot/chance to working at acting"

Networks, a joint venture in Japan, will be making a Tele Cinema and first episode is "Postman of Heaven". It is a joint drama project of Japan and South Korea. Jaejoong had been interviewed on the 24th (of September? It says something about SM EverySing karaoke). Jaejoong is surprised to being casted for the role. He has read the script and took the role, and said he will work hard for it.

"Postman of Heaven" is going to be produced by 'I'm Sorry I Love You' Lee Hyungmin PD and Writer Kitagawa Eriko who wrote "One Million Stars Falling from the Sky" staring Takuya Kimura. The drama is about a messenger who connects the Afterlife with the present world. He will be a mailman who is in charge of sending the death of a friend or family member (of a person) up to heaven. There will be a DVD of this mini-series.

Yunho mentions that Jaejoong was the first out of them to make a solo shot at career, and that in the larger framework they are still DBSK as a whole even when they are doing solo.

The drama is scheduled to be filmed as early as the 10th (October?).

[SHOW + NEWS] DBSK have made their fans laugh once again on SBS's "Chocolate"

Dong Bang Shin Ki have made their fans laugh once again.

The group, who have just recently released their 4th album, 주문-미로틱(MIROTIC) featured and performed on SBS's Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate: DBSK Special on the 27th of September.

The Dong Bang Shin Ki members shared many stories with MC Kim Jung Eun and their fans in the audience, making gestures towards the fans when responding to the MC's questions.

While the members were sharing stories about how they have lived together since their debut, U-Know Yunho said "Since we all live together, our underwear always gets mixed up. Because of this, one of the members started to label his underwear."

"And that member was U-Know Yunho." Young Woong JaeJoong revealed, making Yunho feel awkward. "Recently, our manager's underwear has also gotten mixed up with our own. If our manager realises that we're wearing his underwear and he gives it to us, we're happy - but our underwear keeps disappearing." the Dong Bang boys revealed, making their fans and the audience roll over with laughter.

When Kim Jung Eun asked who the dirtiest DBSK member was, DBSK replied "We all clean oftenly. But when we arrived in Japan, Junsu didn't unpack the suitcase with his clothes in it. When compared to the rest of the members, Junsu is the laziest." Yoochun also added, "Junsu planned on not unpacking his clothes at all, until we would have to leave."

"In the end, Junsu never unpacked his clothes." To which Junsu replied, "I didn't need to unpack my clothes. I just wore other clothes which I'd put elsewhere!" causing the audience to burst into laughter once more.

At one stage, 7 year old blind pianist, Yoo Yae Un along with Super Junior Happy appeared on the show as special guests with their own performance. Dong Bang Shin Ki also performed five songs - The title song of their 4th album, 주문(MIROTIC), Love In The Ice, Balloons, Miduhyo (Trust me) and Hug - to the hot response of their audience.

'Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate - Dong Bang Shin Ki Special' will be broadcast by SBS at 12:30 am on the 1st of October.

A must see:

[NEWS] MBC vs SM Feud Over, TVXQ To Appear On MBC

MBC and SM Entertainment have dramatically reconciled. On the 26th at the MBC Dreamcenter in Ilsan, the PD of the show “Come To Play” revealed that the conflict between MBC and SM Entertainment is over and therefore Dong Bang Shin Gi will be appearing on Come To Play.”

Because of the conflict, extreme measures were taken where SM Entertainment singers were prohibited from appearing or participating on any of the network’s programs. The PD stated, “The argument between MBC and SM was a result of a misunderstanding” and also, “SM cleared the misunderstanding and discussed Dong Bang Shin Gi’s appearance. And in the future, SM artists will be able to appear and perform on music programs.”

Futhermore, Dong Bang Shin Gi’s ‘Come To Play’ segment recording will take place on October 1st.
