Sony Ericsson has expanded its smartphone portfolio and launched its Xperia range of phones, the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play (Playstation) targeted at the die-hard gaming enthusiast. Powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and a 4.2 inch LCD capacitive touch support, Xperia Play sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 205 GPU that lets users run multiple applications simultaneously with larger battery life and and also let users experience PlayStation Suite games on the handset.
The Xperia Arc flaunts slim looks and is just 8.7mm thin at its slimmest part and weighs 117 gm which is equipped with 10.6 cm touch screen, 320MB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB and 8.1 MP camera,. The Arc will feature the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Xperia arc has 8.1 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R image sensor. Other features include, A-GPS support, HDMI port, stereo FM with RDS and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 version.
Xperia Play has a 1GB ROM, 512MB RAM and 400MB internal memory. The smartphone has a 5.1 megapixel camera and a display with 854 x 480 pixels screen resolution with 720P video playback and recording, 11 buttons slideout keyboard with Touch Sensitive Gaming Controls, A-GPS support, Stereo FM with RDS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1, USB port and powered by a 1500 mAh standard battery. This phone claims a talktime of around 7 hours.
Xperia Play is priced at Rs 35,000 and is available in black and white colours while the Xperia Arc is priced at Rs 32,000, and is available in midnight blue and silver colours. With the launch of the Xperia Arc and Play, Sony wants to take communication and entertainment to the next level and is designed to cater to the youth market.
