A Couple of Yards of Tea, and Other Melting Snow Memories

How much tea does the Lovely One drink -- a couple of yards, I'd say. I was out in the spring air with my camera yesterday, capturing some melting snow memories with my camera and I came upon this six-foot area of spent tea leaves.
The Lovely One drinks a whole pot of tea herself for breakfast. She makes it from loose tea leaves. And when she is done, the tea leaves get dumped from our living room balcony on the snow below. It is truly iced tea.

This is a graphic record of the couple of yards of tea that has gone through the Lovely One.

And as I was doing my daily walk along the highway, I spotted something that I thought that I would only see in Nassau. It was a discarded child's sandal.

There is one difference between a thrown-away child's sandal in Canada and in Nassau. This one was in a snow bank by the side of the road. Somewhere a kid's foot is freezing.

Cosmological Cabbage Paparazzi And Stress Relief from Mokena Illinois

I was doing my usual beach walk yesterday, and came across the above scene. I am not sure what was going on, but I think that someone was filming a webinar, or podcast or Youtube video. With the amount of celebrities in the Bahamas, you never know who is famous and who is not. It was at this exact spot that I saw Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas jogging. I didn't engage the people to find out who the woman is what they are doing.

On the walk back, I found a stress relief ball. It is from Crown Painting.

I checked them out. They are located in Mokena Illinois near Chicago. Crown Painting folks, if you are ever back in the Bahamas, don't come looking for your stress ball. Finders keepers!

The Modern Era Beachcomber

I mentioned in yesterday's blog entry that the ocean was roily and restless. The waves were high and the surf pounded the beach.

When that happens, beachcombing is at its best. The ocean tosses stuff out of its soupy bowels. In this modern era, what that flotsam and jetsam consists of, is mostly plastic.

In the space of three minutes, I picked up the crap that you see in the picture. You see a couple of pairs of sun glasses, the remains of a Nokia cell phone, an electronic watch that was dying (it couldn't tell the time, but if you pressed the buttons, a couple of pixels would change on the display making an unintelligible pattern).

When I was younger, I read a book by a fellow who spent a year on a deserted Scottish island beach facing the Atlantic in the 1960's. He said that the sea brought him anything and everything from a crate of oranges to tools. No such luck here in the Bahamas. All I get is WalMart stuff that has been beaten up the waves. I suppose that it is the new treasure of the modern era beachcomber.
