For once a shaving company is targeting women. And no its different than what you already are thinking right now. Gillette India has launched a innovative new Shave India campaign in a bid to make men shave everyday(in a way their product also sells more). Indians are known for their hairy moustaches and their beards. Remember the Air India Maharaja, who still loves to flaunt his long curved moustache.
Gone are the days of your road-side barber doing a nice smooth cut amidst the radio juggling some golden oldies and the occasional cricket ball hitting the mirror or sometimes missing your chin too. Gillette is inducing guys to shave regularly and that too at home. Now its up to the individuals whether they feel confident in their beards or not or the females find guys with moustaches hunky or not, but Gillette in its bid is not leaving no stone unturned.
They are also inducing the women to make their men shave everyday and has roped in three hotties Mugdha Godse, Neha Dhupia and Minnissha Lamba for the WALS (Women Against Lazy Stubble) campaign and in the process creating a huge buzz through social networking sites, media, shaving booths, forums etc. Gillette is inviting women to give their responses for beard preferences in men.
The company is also creating public booths and make women shave their male counterparts and created a record with 150 couples coming together to break the world-record for the Largest Shaving Lesson ever and also demonstrated how with the comfort of their products shaving becomes so effortless that even your partner can shave you.
And then their is the opposite side of the story too with some Men's and Women's forums staunchly reciprocating the movement by saying the movement is aimed at creating division and dis-harmony within families and is also in violation of individual rights. Here is a really funny creative commercial from the Shave Sutra campaign. Watch it fully to tickle your humour bones.
This ad is a really hilarious one and the best part is in which a small bird is flying away from a modern day cool dude's hairy chest jungle after he opens his tee.
Whether it takes away your feeling of masculinity or not or for the opposites the concept of an ideal man, this campaign is surely creating some ripples in the gigantic Indian shaving industry.
