Harry may also be related to his godfather. According to the Black family tree, Charlus Potter married Dorea Black, granddaughter of Phineas Nigellus Black, with the result that James and Sirius may have been first cousins, once removed.

In 2002, Harry Potter was voted No. 85 among the "100 Best Fictional Characters" by Book magazine and also voted the 35th "Worst Briton" in Channel 4`s "100 Worst Britons We Love to Hate" program.

The girls` staircase in Gryffindor was enchanted so when a boy stepped on it, a siren wailed and the staircase was temporarily transfigured into a slippery slide; however, the boys` staircase did not have the same enchantment - according to Hogwarts, A History, the founders believed that girls were more trustworthy than boys!

In the Spanish translations of the Harry Potter books, Neville Longbottom's toad, Trevor, has been translated as a turtle instead of a frog.

JK Rowling has admitted that she wrote the final chapter of the book back in 1990 and has been leading up to the final cliffhanger in her 6 other books starring Harry.
