For once the media is on the wrong foot now. Regarded fro so long as the most independent and credible source of news, the new-age media is making a mockery of itself these days. Yes the competition has increased and that definitely eroded lot of traditional values which the media used to uphold, but somewhere the editors also are to share the blame.
We all know the editors are the most strongest voices in the media industry and uphold utmost power who can really create public opinion from the scratch in seconds. No doubt lot of editors of News channels, who are visible in prime time shows today has become like celebrities and has built up a mass fan following. Somewhere they are the voices of the million unheard minds.
In all its niceties, the media faces the strongest of the resistance from the Governments. Being one of the strongest pillars in any country, the Government definitely remains always wary of the media, such is it reach. And herein lies the challenge. In general a leaning gradually develops towards a particular side for any media house, maybe because of the individual preferences of the editor or other reasons. Leaning or bias is acceptable as long as ti doesn't become too inherent to the naked eye.
These are times of 24 hour news channels and so is real difficult to really get fresh news every hour and here the creative or plastic news, which is loud, colourful and which may give you instant stardom but the way to it may not be as easy as it seems and one mistake you're out of the loop.
In its journey to be independent, objective and striking, the media people itself gets drowned often in the same issues that they target or focus. At the end of the day the people behind the television screen is someone like you and me and is often nurtured in the system as like us.
At the end of the day, its very easy to point fingers at others but if you yourself doesn't maintain the highest standards of integrity and honour, somewhere the millions of people before the screen will catch your bluff. And reputation is easy to build but once destroyed, its the toughest to regain.
In the last few years many of the popular media personalities has fallen from grace perhaps because in their rise they forgot, that some where humility, benevolence and objectivity still remains the key, however tall you may be.
