Oasis of the Seas -- World's Largest Cruise Ship

The world's largest cruise ship, the Oasis of Seas is on her maiden voyage, and she stopped in at Nassau yesterday. I was out to greet her, like most of the town lining Woodes Rodgers Walk and Prince George Wharf.

Tourism is down considerably and she was welcomed with glee by Bahamians. The woman in the picture below sang and danced and shouted "Welcome", "Thank You" and "We love you!"

The Oasis of the Seas is a Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines ship. Built in Finland, she has 16 decks, encompasses 225,282 gross registered tons, carries 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and features 2,700 staterooms.

The ship in the foreground to the right is the Carnival Sensation. She has a mere 10 decks and 70,000 tons.

Even the cops on the street stopped to watch her sail into port.
